Preparing Audit Adjustment using Source Document in Dynamics GP

GP - Record Audit Adjustment


Path: Transaction > Financial > General


1.  Use “General Transaction Entry” to record Audit Adjustment.

2.  To differentiate normal general journal entry from Audit Adjustment entry during reporting, user need to indicate the entry as “AUDIT” in Source Document. 

3.  The Audit Adjustment can be posted to any date as long the “AUDIT” is selected.

4.  In case the “AUDIT” does not appear from Source Document lookup list, user can create it by going to Source Document Setup.

Path: MSDGP > Tools > Setup > Posting > Source Document

5.  Save the entry, and post the entry in batch screen just like normal.


Report Designer - Generate report with/without Audit Adjustment


1. Setting need to be done in Column format before Report Designer able to pull Audit Adjustment entry and normal general journal entry separately. Select the “Column” format button.

2. Notice in the Column format below, there are 5 columns prepared. To prepare a column with the Audit Adjustment (refer to column D), double click the area in “Attribute Filter” row as per highlight below. If there is no filter being enter in “Attribute Filter”, the report will extract everything including entry which posted using “AUDIT” source document. To illustrate this scenario, refer “Column C”.

3. Select “Source Document” from the Attribute list, and input the Source Document name in “From” and “To”. This will make sure report will only pull entries which posted using source document “AUDIT”.

4. Refer to report that has generated, “Column D” will only display transaction that posted under “AUDIT” source document; whereas Column C will display all the transactions which include general journals and audit adjustment.

How to Create Recurring Transaction in Dynamics GP

If you have a handful of journal entries to be created in regular basis, whether for  numerous accruals and reversals,  allocation, or reclassification entries, setting up Recurring Transaction in Dynamics GP will be helpful and speed up your month end process. How to Record a Refund from a Vendor in Dynamics GP

Assuming you have scenario where there is over payment to your vendor or supplier, but you don't have any open invoice due to this vendor, you can simply enter a Return transaction using Payable Transaction Entry screen. Path: Transaction > Purchasing > Transaction Entry > Select "Return" from Document Type. 1.     Assuming there is a refund of $100 from the supplier, enter the refund details as per screenshot attached. 2.     Enter the refund amount to "Returns" and also "Check" field. 3.     The check entry screen will pop out to record the cash receipt details. 4.     Take note of the Distribution entry, DR Bank and CR Purchase. 5.     After the Return is posted, the document status will be "HIST".
